Trust Managementfor Pervasive Computing Environments
نویسنده
چکیده
Trust is essential for further and wider acceptance of contemporary e-services. It was first addressed almost thirty years ago in Trusted Computer System Evaluation Criteria standard by the US DoD. But this and other proposed approaches of that period were actually solving security. Roughly some ten years ago, methodologies followed that addressed trust phenomenon at its core, and they were based on Bayesian statistics and its derivatives, while some approaches were based on game theory. However, trust is a manifestation of judgment and reasoning processes. It has to be dealt with in accordance with this fact and adequately supported in cyber environment. On the basis of the results in the field of psychology and our own findings, a methodology called qualitative algebra has been developed, which deals with so far overlooked elements of trust phenomenon. It complements existing methodologies and provides a basis for a practical technical solution that supports management of trust in contemporary computing environments. Such solution is also presented at the end of this paper. Keywords—internet security, trust management, multi-agent systems, reasoning and judgment, modeling and simulation, qualitative algebra

A context-sensitive dynamic role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments
Resources and services are accessible in pervasive computing environments from anywhere and at any time. Also, due to ever-changing nature of such environments, the identity of users is unknown. However, users must be able to access the required resources based on their contexts. These and other similar complexities necessitate dynamic and context-aware access control models for such environmen...
متن کاملA semantic-aware role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments
Access control in open and dynamic Pervasive Computing Environments (PCEs) is a very complex mechanism and encompasses various new requirements. In fact, in such environments, context information should be used in access control decision process; however, it is not applicable to gather all context information completely and accurately all the time. Thus, a suitable access control model for PCEs...
متن کاملA Semantic-Aware Ontology-Based Trust Model for Pervasive Computing Environments
Traditionally, to handle security for stand-alone computers and small networks, user authentication and access control mechanisms would be almost enough. However, considering distributed networks such as the Internet and pervasive environments, these kinds of approaches are confronted with flexibility challenges and scalability problems. This is mainly because open environments lack a central c...
متن کاملAn Efficient Feedback-based Trust Model for Pervasive Computing
In pervasive computing environments, pervasive devices should collaborate effectively such that the vision of pervasive computing will come true. However, without trust, pervasive devices cannot collaborate effectively. Distributed trust systems (DTS) may support trust and thus foster collaboration in hostile pervasive computing environments. The challenge for DTS is how to aggregate the local ...
متن کاملTowards a localisation of trust framework for pervasive environments
Pervasive computing envisions an environment in which we are surrounded by many embedded computer devices. The existence of those networked devices provides us with a mobile, spontaneous and dynamic way to access various resources provided by different (security policy) domains. In recent years, we have witnessed the evolutionary development of numerous multiple domain applications. One of the ...
